Goodna Cemetery is a long-established community cemetery on Stuart Street in Goodna, in the City of Ipswich. The cemetery is managed by the Goodna Cemetery Trust and remains an active burial ground.
A little history
Goodna Cemetery dates back to the early history of the district. The cemetery was proclaimed in 1859, although the first recorded burial took place in November 1873. There are also believed to have been earlier burials.
The cemetery has around 1,000 graves and includes a number of older sections and historic memorials.
The cemetery also has a connection with the former Woogaroo asylum. During the 1940s, 192 bodies from the former asylum cemetery were exhumed and relocated to Goodna Cemetery, with remaining headstones transferred in 1970.

Goodna Cemetery is a general cemetery offering burial options including single-depth and double-depth graves.
It is a traditional cemetery with a mixture of older and newer sections, including monumental memorials.

Heritage Park Crematorium
Heritage Park Crematorium occupies part of the Goodna Cemetery site. The crematorium operates separately from the cemetery, with the land leased from the Goodna Cemetery Trust.
The crematorium includes a chapel, memorial gardens and a range of ashes memorialisation options. The chapel can also be used for a burial service at Goodna Cemetery.
This means burial and cremation facilities are available on the same site, although they are operated separately.

Goodna Cemetery can be used for traditional burial services and graveside ceremonies.
Families using Heritage Park Crematorium can also choose from a range of memorial options for ashes, including memorial walls and garden areas.
